This can vary depending on whether you work in a franchised or company owned restaurant. Typically, it can be every 2 or 4 weeks for hourly paid employees, and monthly for employees on a dedicated salary.
The hours our restaurants are open for ranges from location to location, but over half of our restaurants are open 24 hours a day. Most shifts are scheduled to suit you, but also must take account working time legislation and our business needs.

A franchised restaurant is a restaurant operated by a local businessperson trading under the McDonald's name. Currently over 88% of our restaurants in the UK are franchised, but from a customer point of view, there's no noticeable difference. For employees however, there will be differences between a company and a franchised restaurant. For instance, those working in franchised restaurants will be employed by the franchises themselves. You’ll be a key member of our Agriculture team, and spend your time with an industry leading McDonald’s supplier and progressive farmer.
On Farm Experience: Six months
Supply Chain Experience: Five months
McDonald’s Head Office: One month
You will have mentorship from a farmer who supplies McDonald’s with Beef, Chicken, Potatoes, Pork, Dairy and/or Eggs (opportunities will be with Cargill, Noble Foods, Moy Park and many others).
You’ll earn a fully-funded accounting qualification through an apprenticeship with Kaplan on their ACA, ACCA, or CIMA courses.
Rotational 3-year scheme.
At least 3 B’s (or equivalent UCAS Points) at A-Level.
You’ll rotate through roles within the Global Business Services (GBS) Finance Team and then move to Head Office to complete your training.
The experience you gain will span:
· Global Business Services (GBS) – Accounting & Finance
· Operations Finance
· Strategic Finance
· Financial Reporting & Controls
· Financial Planning & Analysis
· Real Estate Finance
For the first year, you’ll work with the GBS Finance team who are based in Sutton Coldfield (near Birmingham). You’ll then move to our Head Office in East Finchley, North London for the remaining 2 years.
